About Us

Steve and I come from very different backgrounds. I grew up on a cattle ranch in the Caribou/Chilcotin area of British Columbia. My family raised Hereford cattle and bred Quarter Horses. I was never without a horse and gained a lot of experience working beside my father Fred Downs and brother Fred Jr. My brother and sister Diana were also heavily involved in rodeo and thoroughbred racing. Steve was raised in Windsor Ontario and spent time with his father working with wood which is a wonderful gift to have when you own a horse operation. He spends a lot of time rebuilding and fixing what the horses break as well as the yard maintenance.

We opened our first 20 stall boarding facility near Oakbank, Manitoba in 1999 and in 2007 we purchased the King Equestrian Club and turned it into a full-care 24-stall boarding barn. We are located within 20 minutes driving distance of Toronto, Stouffville, Markham, Richmond Hill, and Newmarket, Ontario.
